This course follows Grade 9 Algebra 1 CAP documents. This course counts as first year of Graduation Requirements. Algebra 1 includes the study of properties and operations of the real number system; evaluating rational algebraic expressions; solving and graphing first degree equations and inequalities; and translating word problems in to equations. The content of this course deepens and extends understanding of linear and exponential relationships by contrasting them with each other and by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Students engage in methods for analyzing, solving, and using quadratic functions to model and solve problems. To meet 21st century learning, students will use mathematical practices to investigate and explore mathematical ideas and relationships and develop multiple strategies for analyzing complex situations.
